MIAMI – 1450 Brickell, a Class A office tower currently under construction at the entrance to downtown Miami’s Brickell Financial District, topped off at 35 stories on Jan. 20. The occasion was celebrated during a special topping-off party held at the construction site.
The 586,000sf tower is scheduled for delivery in January 2010, when it will become the first of three new downtown Miami office buildings to come online next year.

JACKSONVILLE – While the performance of Jacksonville’s apartment market will moderate through 2009, the extended outlook remains fairly bright, according to the 2009 National Apartment Report by Marcus & Millichap.

A Fort Myers Vietnam veteran who lost $150,000 in retirement funds to convicted real estate agent Samir Cabrera has filed a class-action federal lawsuit against a Chicago attorney that Cabrera blamed for his legal troubles. In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Myers late Tuesday, Robert Mengle, on behalf of other investors, seeks roughly $11.6 million from Chicago attorney Mitch Goldsmith that they spent in land deals with Cabrera, who was convicted of 11 wire fraud and money laundering charges on Jan. 14. Cabrera, who is free on bond pending sentencing on April 27, plans an appeal.
The Fed will most certainly reiterate a commitment to keeping the federal funds rate low “for some time.”
