As part of National Stop on Red Week, which runs from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8, deputies in Collier and Lee counties will be on the lookout for drivers who illegally blow through intersections. Add Collier County’s new red-light running cameras into the mix, along with test cameras at an intersection in Fort Myers, and there are more ways to get caught running a red light in Southwest Florida than ever before.
The point South hopes to make at the eight-team tournament that begins today in Huntington, W.Va. is to do a good job as Florida’s representative. State champs from Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia are also in the field.
